![]() The bathrooms were far away and the bed was uncomfortable. There are no places to have a fire except the communal firepit which made our nights very cold. Moving around the "campsite" was always difficult to navigate without potential knocking something over or being in someone elses personal space. The view was beautiful but it comes with a was riddled with cobwebs, the clearing around the yurt was such a small space all the way around we barely had room for our 2 chairs and a small camp table. Didn't mind the walk until we got to the stairs.having to lug all of our camping supplies up and down those stairs was miserable. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise. Wine produces mockers alcohol leads to brawls. But I won't change what I stand for simply to appease the crowd. Christians get a lot of negative reviews as well, but I have learned to accept that not all are going to accept me for who I am. To your relief, I am no longer living on Orcas. But as a Christian, who some may see my google maps timeline, I want to clarify the reason for my visit, as I have adamantly voiced opposition to alcohol establishments for years. I have nothing against anyone at this establishment. I've had military friends commit suicide under the influence of alcohol, careers shattered, marriages ruined, etc. Study the effects of alcohol, socially, physically, and mentally. I have been asked to "be a better neighbor and remove this post because it may hurt their business." Quit honestly, I would like you to remove your business because it may hurt my family. I've seen too many lives wrecked by the business of alcohol. Not a reflection on anyone who works here. I was very impressed how they went the extra mile (many miles, actually) to give us the best experience. The tour was scheduled to end at 2:00, but they provided an extra hour of viewing. We had excellent viewing of the pod, and Trey explained to us all about these fascinating animals, with their sophisticated communication and social characteristics. ![]() Honestly, even if we hadn't found the whales I felt like I got my money's worth.īut we did find the whales, or rather, folks in the southern part of the islands did, and so we headed all they way south. Our naturalist, Trey, was very informative and interesting, describing the marine life and history of the islands. In our case, we headed north, and on the trip up saw dophins, seals, birds, and other interesting things. The whale watching tours all cooperate and report to the others when they find them, which is pretty cool. They are somewhere in the area, but the "area" is the San Juan islands, which is pretty extensive. This was the first time we've done something like this and the way it goes is that no one actually knows where the whales are exactly. ![]() Today my wife and I participated in one of their whale watching excursions. You have to ask yourself if you are there for remotness and privacy (no) or easy access / close probity to one of the lakes. Yes, I feed it my credit card and a bundle of wood comes rolling down the shoot.Ĭampsites are a little small and can be kind of close together though it varies across the 3 campgrounds. Great to help the effort of not transporting firewood between eco systems and just cool at the use of tech. Winner.Īlso, the dork in me loves the rare firewood vending machine. At night, a 10 min walk to the lake shore to view the moonlight on the lake. paddled my yak and swam in 2 different awesome little lakes. ![]() The last 3 night trip I got in two hikes. By the latter I mean a short small valley trail, around the lake loop trails, and up the mountain through forest with vistas from thousands of feet up. A variety of hikes both in terms of difficulty and experience. Have visited many times and camped several.
